Boynton Canyon to Mushroom Rock (3/10/16)

BoyntCyn08-09 15Boynton Canyon is one of the most beautiful box canyons within the Dry Creek Basin area.  Once the trail leaves the perimeter of the Enchantment Resort behind, the canyon walls draw you in.  After hiking about 2 miles, we will leave the main trail and head off to find Mushroom Rock, along with some ruin sites.

WHEN:  9:00 a.m.; Thursday, March 10, 2016.  Estimated duration:  4 – 4.5 hours.

MEET AT: Boynton Canyon Trail Head

From 89A in West Sedona, turn north on Dry Creek Road and follow the signs to Boynton Canyon. You’ll find a parking lot and the trailhead just outside the entrance to the Enchantment Resort.  You will need to display a Red Rock parking pass.

DESCRIPTION:  Moderate hike with some steep sections, that include scrambling and slick rock walking, ~6.5 miles; CEG 1650′.  Out and back hike, maintained system trail to turnoff to ruins and Mushroom Rock, then social trail to destination.
